ART IN ACTION - Florida Keys Wild Bird Center On-line Exhibition and Fundraiser

Florida Keys Wild Bird Center Exhibition
Organized by
Fine Art Professor Claudia Scalise

This year's exhibition features one-ofa-kind drawings donated by Fall2015 term ART1300 students
to benefit the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center. The images are a result of a semester-long Service Learning Project that began with a visit to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center and culminated in the donated pieces for sale.
During the visit, students shot source photos and made sketches they worked from once back at the studio
on Campus.  In the final works, students focus on compositional arrangement, a variety of drawing skills,
and media.  While the subject matter directly depicts the native and migratory birds treated
at the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, the content expresses each individual students response
in creating awareness about local fauna protection and celebrating the diverse species found in Florida.
Pieces will be distributed to owners after March 25, 2016.
To purchase, email Alison Walker at  awalker1@mdc.edu or call 305-237-3450

"The Florida Keys Wild Bird Centers mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced, to provide or locate a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released, and to educate the public toward the importance of  coexistence with all wild bird species."
