inter-disciplinary program guide compact disc (which can be adapted
to specific courses) will be made available to faculty for use in
classroom.

Foundations of Green Studies

Foundations of
Green Studies provides a basis for the development of curriculum infused
with ecological concepts. This workshop is a suggested precursor to
Green Studies 1. Content of the course provides supporting evidence
of the need for ecological perspectives across disciplines and rationales
for "greening" curriculum, the role of educators and administrators
in reinventing higher education, and adaptation of course goals and
objectives.

Green
Studies I

This workshop
is designed to assist participants in nurturing views that are compatible
with the Earth's systems and to encourage all to apply these views
across the disciplines into the curriculum at MDC.
· Examine
personal experiences, memories, and reflections on the natural world,
as well as one’s connection to place
· Explore
cosmology and world view and discuss ways in which various historic
and cultural paradigms influence how one sees the world, how paradigm
determines choice and ways educational systems tend to shape our
perceptions; discuss questions about science and spirituality
· Examine
ethical considerations that relate to developing value systems that
guide actions, self correct, integrate with one’s beliefs and lead
to a standard of ethics for a sustainable earth community
· Discuss
possible directions toward appropriate solutions to environmental
destruction
· Describe
ways to effectively incorporate Earth Literacy concepts into curriculum,
as well as explore trans-disciplinary collaboration.

Culture Cosmology and Context

Participants will examine the
foundations of their own cosmology and discuss ways in which dominant
worldviews influence cultural expression and shape the values and
perceptions within our educational system, in order to develop an
understanding of Earth Literacy in the context of the participant's
respective discipline.
As a result of successful completion of
the workshop, participants will be able to:

The Ecozoic Era
A New Human Consciousness

During this workshop
the Earth Ethics Institute faculty and staff will share their
experiences at Genesis Farm. Genesis Farm is a learning center for
re-inhabiting Earth. Through their experiences at Genesis Farm the
presenters will relate their personal quests to awaken their human
consciousness. The significance of the MDC, Dr. Padron signing of
the Talloires Declaration will be included in this workshop. During
this workshop the faculty will share strategies for integrating
sustainability across the curriculum.
